Yappi ("we", "our", or "the app") is a multilingual chat application that provides automatic message translation. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.

1. Information We Collect

• Account Information: Email address and password (encrypted) when you create an account.
• Profile Information: Display name, profile photo (optional), and preferred language setting.
• Messages: Text messages and images you send through the app.
• Device Information: Device language setting and push notification token for delivering notifications.
• Friend Code: A unique identifier generated for adding friends.
• Subscription Information: Subscription status, plan type, purchase history, and transaction identifiers for managing in-app subscriptions.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide chat and messaging functionality.
• To translate messages into your preferred language using AI translation services.
• To send push notifications for new messages.
• To display your profile to other users (friends only).
• To manage subscriptions and verify entitlements.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Supabase: Cloud infrastructure for authentication, database, and file storage. Data is stored securely on Supabase's servers.
• Google Gemini API: Message content is sent to Google's Gemini API for translation purposes only. Google may process this data according to their privacy policy.
• Expo Push Notifications: Push notification tokens are sent to Expo's servers to deliver notifications to your device.
• RevenueCat: Subscription management and purchase processing. Your anonymous user ID and purchase history are shared with RevenueCat to manage subscription entitlements. RevenueCat's privacy policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy

4. Subscriptions

• Yappi offers auto-renewable subscriptions (monthly and yearly plans).
• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase.
• Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
• You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your device's Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions.

5. Data Retention

Your data is retained until you delete your account. When you delete your account:

• Your profile, messages, and images are permanently deleted.
• Your authentication data is removed.
• This action cannot be undone.

6. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS/TLS encryption for data in transit and secure authentication through Supabase. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.

7. Children's Privacy

Yappi is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

8. Your Rights

• You can update your profile information at any time in the app settings.
• You can delete your account and all associated data from the app settings.
• You can block and report users who send inappropriate content.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by updating the "Last updated" date.
